Disaster Strikes Patuxent Riverkeeper - Literally!
We need your help now like never before! On June 8th, after nearly three days without electricity from the various storms that marched through the region, we suddenly received way too much. According to onlookers, a bolt of lightning like blue flame touched down immediately next to the Patuxent Riverkeeper office. Neighbors a 1/4 a mile away reported feeling the shock wave from the strike. The surge of electricity blew out our phone lines, internet, in-house networking, and several computers. When we came to survey the damage, the office looked like a disaster scene - several internet routers had exploded, scorching the carpet and sending blackened parts flying. It has already cost us over $1,000 just to get our systems back online and our phones working, and it will cost much more to repair all the damage that was done, especially to our computers. Can we count on you to send a special donation today to help us recover from this disaster? All funds received will go towards rebuilding our computer systems after the strike. Our small non-profit organization does not have insurance that will replace these items and such a calamity was not factored into our budgets. Your support will result in stronger, more sustainable programs and help maintain operational continuity as our office struggles to respond to this unforeseen crisis. Thanks in advance for your help!
Sincerely, |
